Armstrong – Services for Joseph Gregor Walters, 77, were held Tuesday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military graveside services by the Armstrong American Legion. He died Saturday, Dec. 9, 1989 at his home in Armstrong. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Armstrong was in charge of arrangements.

He was born February 29, 1912 at Germania, Kossuth County, Iowa, the son of Fredrick and Marie (Aigner) Walters [Walders]. He attended country school near Swea City. On June 17, 1933 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Mixell at Fairmont, Minn. The couple lived in Armstrong where he shelled corn and drove truck until retiring in 1979. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and lifetime member of the Armstrong American Legion. He was an army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy, Armstrong; two sons Richard of Estherville and Jim, Minneapolis; one daughter Mrs. Martin (Dorothy) Jones, Lake Crystal, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother Leo Walders of Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; one grandson; six brothers, one half-brother and three half-sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 13, 1989)
