Henry Walders Dies July 19

Henry John Walders, 64, Armstrong, died at 2:10 p.m., July 19, 1972, at Fairmont Community Hospital. He had been ill with cancer for five months.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Donahue Sarff officiating. Burial will be made at Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

He was born June 8, 1908, at Swea City to Fred and Mary Walders and was educated in Kossuth County rural schools. On June 15, 1957, he was married to Mrs. Ida Hoppus, a widow, at Mankato.

Having moved to Armstrong as a young boy, he made his home there the rest of his life. He managed several service stations and at the time of his death was employed at McIntire D-X station. He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. He was also a fireman on the Armstrong Fire Department for many years.

Mr. Walders is survived by his wife, Ida, of Armstrong; one stepson, Lee Hoppus of Westminster, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Gary Norris of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Mervan Rasmussen, Dolliver; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Leo and Joe of Armstrong, Julius of Marshall, Minn., and Robert of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three half-brothers, one half-sister and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Kim and Scott Rasmusen, Gerald, Larry, Robert and James Walders. Soloist will be Robert Monson.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home at Armstrong after noon on Saturday until noon Sunday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 20, 1972)
