Dies Today at Armstrong

Armstrong – George Joseph Walders, 52, in the produce business here since 1946, died at 8 a.m. today at his home of a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Walders had been a patient at Holy Family Hospital during the past few weeks and had been in poor health for several years.

He was born Jun 5, 1910 at Swea City, the son of Fred and Marie Walders. He was educated at St. John’s school, Bancroft, and was married Jan. 25, 1952 to Gean All Wilson.

Survivors include his widow, three daughters, Carla Jo, 9; Mary Gean, 8; and Marjorie Ann, 6; one son, Gary Joseph, 4; six brothers, Julius of Lynd, Minn.; Robert of Waterloo, Henry, Lawrence, Joe and Leo, all of Armstrong; and a half-sister, Mrs. Iver Bergun of Seneca.

Date and time of services are pending but will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Slaba Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 30, 1962)

Armstrong – Funeral services for George Walders, 52, who died Saturday [June 30, 1962] at his home in Armstrong, will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. W. Burch will officiate. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery. Rosary will be recited tonight at 8 o’clock at Slaba Funeral home in Armstrong.
