Their Record Reno County World War II: Ray W. Lavender, ARM 2/c, Naval Air force, radioman and gunner, stationed at Kaneo Bay, Hawail; Morotai, Halamahara islands; Leyte, and at Clark Field on Luzon, in the Philippines, at Morotai, off the China coast, Formosa and Okinawa. Credited with bringing down two Jap planes a third probable, and sinking 17 enemy ships. In service over 21/2 years. overseas Sept. 1944 for about a year in West Pacific. Home, 323 North Town

Ray was in the Navy. He was killed in a airplane accident a few years after him and Arlene were divorced. He was out over the Pacific, just off the California coast.
