Sometime between 1895 and 1903 Glenn's parents were divorced, which was rather unusual for the time. After their father left, he and his older sister Rosa lived with the family of her uncle Leonard Flohr. They were listed as members of his household in 1900 and 1910. Their mother remarried and raised only the children from her second marriage. Their father James can not be found on the 1900 or 1910 census.

Glenn married Edith May Brown, 28 Feb 1920, in Frederick, MD. They had 6 children.

While working for the railroad, they alternated living between Pittsburgh and Hyndman, PA and Cumberland, MD, during which time they raised their six children and eventually settled in their home on Louisiana Avenue in Cumberland.

Glenn and Edith were strong in their faith and attended church regularly. After retirement, Glenn served as Sexton of his Church and Chaplain for the American Legion.
