SEBRING, Fla. David Lee Franklin, age 71, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, in Lake Placid, Florida. He was born September 9, 1941, to Con and Clova (Salyers) Franklin in Thealka, Kentucky, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1979, coming from Fairborn, Ohio. He was a Tractor Parts Salesman and a member of the Masons and Shriners. He was an avid reader, as well as an avid Kentucky Basketball fan. He dearly loved his two girls and was a devoted grandfather to his two grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Melinda (Jason) Whitney of Lake Placid and Melissa (Curtis) Harkrider of Wheaton, Illinois; brothers, Robert Salyers of Tennessee and James Franklin of Sebring; sisters, Mildred Shaver and Brenda Whittemore, both of Ohio and two grandchildren, Madeline Whitney and Ethan Harkrider. He was preceded in death by his sister, Flora Brewer. Interment will be at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 12502 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, Florida 33612.
