Sammy Lee Russell, of Indianapolis, IN died July 12, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, IN and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Sam was born March 31, 1945, at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville, TN, the son of the late Robert M. Russell and the late Waybern Scalf. Sam's career was in construction and he loved NASCAR racing and fishing. Sam was preceeded in death by his parents. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Kim and Barry Pruett of Penn Valley, CA; sons, Sammy Russell, Jr. of San Francisco, CA; and Doug Russell of Ludlow, KY; a sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Terry Brune of Evansville, IN; two step-brothers, Sam Scalf and his wife, Katie, of Taylors, SC; and Stephen Scalf of Albuquerque, NM; and three grandchildren, Lilly and Maggie Pruett, and Alexandria Russell. Funeral services are planned for Friday July 20th at 1:00pm at Porter Funeral Home - Jamestown, with Bret Miller officiating. Bret led Sam to Christ and was Sam's best friend.
