The funeral for Arthur Stern, 79, Pleasant Dale, was held October 18 at the Pleasant Dale United Methodist Church with Rev. Hal Smith officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Dale. Pallbearers were Benjamin Stern, William Stern, Leonard Allen, George Yank, Robert Vance and Faye Bent.
Stern, who died October 14 in Blair, is survived by three sons; Raymond, Dorchester; Bernard, Pleasant Dale; Lyle, Blair; four daughters; Violet Graff, Lincoln; Letty Mundt, Crete; Dorothy Carver, Arvada, Colorado; and Bonnie Bargman, Crete; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Yank, Milford and Hattie Allen, Pleasant Dale; a stepson and two stepdaughters.
Stern was born August 19, 1892 and passed away October 14 at the Blair Memorial Community Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for one week.
Mr. Stern farmed in the Pleasant Dale area until 1952, when he was employed as Seward County Road Maintenance until retirement. Two years ago he moved to Blair.
He was married to Jennette Boggs October 18, 1917. She died January 10, 1944. On August 25, 1945 he married Bertha Carlson. She died June 12, 1966. Also preceding him in death was a stepson, Donald Carlson, in 1964, his parents, Franklin and Ellen Stern, four brothers and two sisters.
