Lester Mounts was born August 15, 1920, he served in the Army during WW2 & Korea. During WW2 Lester was in the Army Air Corps and worked Aviation and Engineering, building airfields and other construction jobs. He later became a half-track driver. Lester was stationed at Hamner Field California before being shipped to the South Pacific where he fought at New Guinea, Biak, and the Invasion of the Philippines. During the Korean conflict he was at Inchon where his unit rebuilt the port. SSG Mounts retired in 1964 before being sent to Viet Nam. While home on leave Lester borrowed his brother-in-laws car and while driving home happened to get a flat tire. Finding no tools to change the tire, he walked to the nearest house to ask to borrow some tools. A young lady answered the door and came out and helped him change the tire. When Lester got to his brother-in-laws house he asked who the young lady was that lived in the house up street. He was told that her name was Norma Jean Hubble. Lester married Norma Hubble on Mothers Day May 12, 1946. They were married in the Oaktown Methodist Church, in Oaktown, Indiana. Lester & Norma later had four children Alice, Ruth, Lester, & Darrell. Lester finished his military career at Fort Bliss, Texas, July of 1964. Accepting a job with the Boeing Aircraft Company, Lester and his family moved to Washington State. Lester worked for the Boeing Company until he retired in 1982. Lester and Norma were married for 52 years until Norma's death in 1998. Sadly we lost dad Feb 14, 2004. I know he and mom are happy doing what they loved most driving down the open highway in their 1953 Hudson Hornet.
