Arthur P. Mounts, 90, Anderson, died Sept. 18, 2006, at Community Hospital in Anderson after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Sullivan, the son of Oliver P. Mounts and Stella R. Begemann Mounts, and lived in the Alexandria/Anderson area since 1948.
Arthur served as a medic in the United States Army during World War II in Europe. While in England in 1945, he met his beloved bride, Win. Returning from the war, he went to work for Guide Lamp Division of General Motors retiring in 1981 after 37 years of employment.
He was known as the "Apple Man" and sold apples and homemade cider from his orchard for several years. Many said that Arthur's cider was the best they had ever tasted. He was a Cubs fan all of his life.
Survivors include a son, Keith (Kerry) Mounts of Germantown, Md.; a sister, Forest Cleveland of Linton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a preceded in death by his father in 1921; his mother in 1938; his English bride of 61 years, Winifred, {Win} Mounts on Aug. 5, 2006; and six siblings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison Street, Alexandria, with the Rev. Bill Hilligoss of Elm Grove Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
