OCEANSIDE Helene Maria* Dodd, 86, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at her home of natural causes.
Born April 16, 1915, in Mannheim. Germany, she lived in Oceanside for 13 years.
She was a graduate of San Diego State University. She was a teacher at Oceanside Carlsbad Union High School since 1954.
She was a member of the San Diego County Retired Teachers Association, the All Saints Cemetery Association, Beta Sigma Phi and was a founding member of Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Carlsbad.
She was a patron of the San Diego Opera and other local arts organizations. She enjoyed needlework and taught knitting, crochet and needlepoint. She was a gourmet cook and baker.
Ms. Dodd was preceded in death by her sister, Erika Boles, in May 2010. She is survived by her sister, Madelaine Liebold of Portsmouth, Va.; niece Erika Galloway; nephew Philip Boles; grandnieces Heidi DeWitt and Heather Davila; and great-grandniece Vanessa Foster.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday*, Nov. 29, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Carlsbad.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association. 225 Broadway, Suite 310, San Diego, CA 92101.
