OBITUARY :
MRS. HELEN E. (BLACK) HARNE, 90, of 505 West Fifth Street, Waynesboro, passed away Saturday morning, June 29, 2013 in her home.

Born November 13, 1922 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Paul M. and Hilda M. (Fox) Black.

She and her husband, the late Marvel N. "Barney" Harne, were married on January 1, 1943. They moved to West Fifth Street in 1952. Mr. Harne died on March 21, 1971.

Mrs. Harne worked as a service clerk at the Waynesboro Kmart for 27 years, retiring in 1978.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburg Steelers.

She is survived by her three grandsons: Eric T. Harne, Craig A. Harne, and Dennis Harne, Jr., all of Waynesboro; two granddaughters: Lori Myers and Sharon Harne, both of Chambersburg; two sisters; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Dennis Harne and Terrance L. "Terry" Harne; a daughter-in-law, Diane Harne; and a number of brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro, with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Tuesday afternoon, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
