Gladys Huddlestun Darr, 101, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:13 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born October 17, 1911 in Yale, IL, the daughter of Sylvanus Calvin Huddlestun and Nellie M. Meeker Huddlestun. On September 3, 1932 she married Perry Earl Darr in Hoguetown, IL. He passed away on September 29, 1999.

Survivors include several nephews and nieces including Ron Darr and wife Jan; Carol Janssen and husband Robert; Jill Shawver and husband Jack and Janice Richardson, all of Casey, IL and other great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Ernest and Bruce Huddlestun and sister, Aleen Wattleworth. Although she had no children, she is remembered as the church camp mom and community mom to many children.

Mrs. Darr was co-owner of Darr's Grocery and Meats on Madison Ave. in Casey, IL for many years. She had previously worked in the Olney and Casey Shoe Factories. She was a member of the Areta Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served many terms as a Worthy Matron. Gladys was a member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and a member of the Casey Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Casey, IL after the Kimlin Cumberland Presbyterian Church closed.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL with Brother Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Rupp Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm. on Thursday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Childrens Home, 909 Greenlee St., Denton, TX 76201.
