Mr. Worth Garland Hutchens, Sr. went home to be with his Lord Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Hinkle Hospice House after a brief illness. Worth was born December 3, 1927 to Spencer and Clara Jones Hutchens. Worth lived in Davidson County all his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Ann Hutchens, Rebecca Hutchens and Vicki Batten, sons, Jimmy Hutchens and David Hutchens and a sister, Dorothy Johnson. Worth was married on July 4, 1946 to Elizabeth (Lib) Byerly who preceded him in death, December 15, 2003. He was retired from Cloverdale Dyes and Marlow Van Loan. Worth was a faithful member of Bethany United Church of Christ, former Teacher of the Ladies Bible Sunday Class and was also director of the youth at Bethany UCC for many years. His passion was visiting shut-ins and also enjoyed fishing at the coast with his family. Your family loved you very much and we all will miss you and your beautiful smile. Funeral services for Worth will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Bethany United Church of Christ with the Rev. Banks Shepherd, John Hutchens, Bobby Byerly and Wade Loftin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
