Lucy Jewell Turner, 97, of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community. She was born July 31, 1920, in Scottsville, KY to the late Fred and Harrietta (Hicks) Stinson. She was a graduate of Fountain Run High School. On November 15, 1941 she married Louell Turner; he passed away in June, 1999.
She lived most of her married life in Indianapolis before moving to Frankfort from 1970- 75. Jewell then lived in Hartford City, Greenfield, and Scottsville, KY before returning to Frankfort in 2011. She loved gardening, preserving vegetables she grew, sewing, and being with her grandchildren.
Jewell is survived by her children, Elmer (Brenda) Turner, of Indianapolis, Carol Sue (Jerry) Shanks, of Gilbert, Arz., and Alice Theresa (Richard Sr.) Mudd, of Frankfort; siblings, Betty Matlock, of Glasgow, KY, Katy Shrum, of Gosport, and Joseph Stinson, of Scottsville; grandchildren, Jamie Trueblood, Richard (Lisa) Mudd II, and Jennifer (Jeff) Faucett; great grandchildren, Sarah (Jeffrey) Owens, Elizabeth Callahan, Richard Mudd III, Jazzlynn Mudd, Jaisley Mudd, Tatum Johnson, and Leamon “Bo” Johnson; and great-great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Gracelyn, and Alexis Owens.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Jones, Clorene Clark, Carol Faye Stinson, Helen Shrum, Anna Grace, and Lorene Witcher; and a brother, Max Stinson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service 6:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Mike Crawford will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon CST on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville, KY. Memorials in Jewell’s name may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
