Francis C. Lawrence died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Annie M. Leonard, of McSherrystown, on Feb. 2nd after an illness of several years with gangrene of the foot, aged about 65 years.
He was unmarried and was a veteran of the Civil War.
The funeral was held on Tuesday of last week from St. Mary's church, McSherrystown, services by Rev. Father Reudter, internment in the new St. Mary's cemetery.
He is survived by four brothers and four sisters, James Lawrence and George Lawrence of Irishtown, and Samuel Lawrence, Henry Lawrence, Mrs. John Staub, Mrs. Mary Jane Johns, Mrs. Jerome Overbaugh and Mrs. Annie Leonard, all of McSherrystown

The son of John L. & Elizabeth (Weaver) Lawrence, in 1860 he was a laborer living in Oxford Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 6" tall and had dark hair and gray eyes and was a lifelong bachelor.
A Civil War veteran, he was drafted from Oxford Township to date February 28, 1865, mustered into federal service that day at Chambersburg as a private with Co. F, 91st Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company July 10, 1865.
