Lexington Standard & Holmes Co.Ms., Records, June 12, 1838; "Notice is hereby given to all persons intrested in the lands and tenements of William Allen, deceased, to appear before the Court of Probates in Lexington on the 1st Monday in August next. "We will sell to the highest bidder, real estate of William, deceased, on the 23rd Dec. next. Mary Allen,* administratrix; John B. Allen, administrator." (Lexington Union, Dec 15, 1838 ).
*Assumed to be William's wife, Mary Morgan Allen, and William's son, John Braxton Allen.
William Allen was a U.S. federal agent to the Chickasaw Indian Nation of the Mississippi Territory (which later became the states of Mississippi and Alabama) and it is said that his wife Mary Morgan was a Chicksaw/Choctaw Indian. Some believe that William fought in the War of 1812 with Gen. Jackson's Army at the Battle of New Orleans. William and Mary (Morgan) Allen's children are said to have included Rebecca, Edmond, Elizabeth, Jacob, John Braxton, Gabriel and Thomas Hodges Allen. It is generally agreed that William H. Allen was the son of Richard and Mary Braxton Allen of Tennessee. It is believed that Richard Allen (William's father) was born in Carolina and died near Canton, Madison Co., MS, in 1839. William Allen is said to have had at least two brothers, Edmond (b.1787) and Gabriel (b. 1791), both born in Dickson Co., Tennessee.

Gravesite Details
Rectangular stone. Once stood upright is now toppled and broken. Inscribed "William Allen" with birth/death dates.
