Edward Allen enlisted as a private in Company L, 9th Tennessee Cavalry on September 17, 1863 in New Market, Tennessee. He died in hospital in Nashville of an unknown disease.

Frankie applied for Widow pension 29 May 1865 after Edward Allen's death.
They had a least 5 children but only two lived to adulthood: Thomas G b 1848 Jefferson TN & Emma M. b 1859 TN. Thomas G married his cousin Lizzie Sturman, Taney Co, MO. Emma M married John Henry Pratt.
Frankey Sturman Allen moved the family to be near her younger brother William H Sturman of Brownbranch, Taney Co, MO.
