Samuel B. Gordon
ARCOLA, Ill. — Funeral services for Samuel Bertrand Gordon will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Arcola, with Msgr. James Haggerty officiating. Burial will be in Arcola Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola. Parish Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
Mr. Gordon, 90, of Arcola died at 6 a.m. Saturday in Jarman Hospital, Tuscola.
He was born July 23, 1881, in Summerset, Ohio, the son of George and Sarah Ditto Gordon. He married Golda Bricker April 19, 1908, in Arcola. She died March 6, 1935.
Survivors include seven sons, Bert Jr. of Arcola, Michael of Atlanta, Ga., Duane of Mattoon, William of South Plainfield, N.J., Richard of Detroit, Mich., Don of Reno, Nev., and Rev. Robert Gordon of Dallas, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Richmond (Betty) Ogdon of Hindsboro and Helen Gordon and Sister Mary Pierre, both of Chicago; and 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Three daughters and two sons preceded him in death.
Mr. Gordon was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was Arcola Township road commissioner 16 years. He also served as Arcola policeman and was drainage commissioner in Arcola many years.
