Grace was the eldest child of Michael Papa and Elizabeth K. Miskovic. She arrived with her mother and brother John aboard the S.S. Kroonland on 6 July 1909, at the age of 5 years. She returned to Slovakia with her family in 1913, for a short trip.

She was originally named Gisela, or Giselka, and was called Gussie as a child in America. Her name is shown as "Augusta" on her diploma from Drake Business College when she completed their stenographic course in 1920.

Prior to her marriage, she lived with her parents in New York City, Rahway (NJ), and Elizabeth (NJ).

She married first to Frederick E. Klett (Sr.) on 18 Aug. 1923 in Elizabeth, Union Co., NJ. After her marriage, she was a homemaker. Grace and Fred had two children (linked below).

During World War II, Grace worked as an inspector of breaches on battleship guns at the American Type Foundry in Elizabeth, NJ. She was later a secretary in the Union County (NJ) Constable's Office in Elizabeth.

She married second to Edwin L. Savidge on 18 Sep. 1966 in Roselle, Union Co. They moved to Florida, where he died in 1974 and she died 13 years later.
