Services for Raymond W. Metcalf will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Huff Funeral Home in Whitesboro, officiated by W.J. Idell. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, under the direction of Huff Funeral Home.

Mr. Metcalf died on Wednesday August 27, 2003 at Gainesville Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Sep. 13, 1924 in Lincoln County, Tenn., to Millard and Gracie Davis Metcalf. When he was 12 years old his family moved to the Whitesboro area. He married Louise Allen on Oct. 19, 1942. she preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 1988. In December of 1988 he married Virginia Partain. He retired from Cooke County Precinct 1 in 1986 after 33 years of service. He was also a cattle rancher and a member of Vilott Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Metcalf, son and daughter-in-law Don and Terri Metcalf, daughters and sons-in-law Kay and Bobby Bashaw and Sharon and Glen Pharr; brother Thurman Metcalf; sisters Essie Huneycutt and Monnie Teeters; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, wife Louise in January 1988, brothers J.D. Metcalf and Burnie Metcalf, sisters Stella Metcalf and Caralee Riley.

Pallbearers are Chris Metcalf, Kenny Bashaw, John Eric Pharr, Glen Pharr, Danny Teters and Clayton Riley.
