Gettysburg Compiler, Apr 24, 1900, Obituary:

Mrs. H. J. Hemler, of Brush Run, Mt. Pleasant township, died last Monday afternoon, aged 62 years, after an illness of four weeks.

Mrs. Hemler was a daughter of Joseph Burkee, of McSherrystown, and was united in marriage 45 years ago to Henry J. Hemler, son of Christian Hemler, of Mt. Pleasant township, who, with four sons and ten daughters, survive her. The sons are Joseph, Harry, Francis and William, all at home. The daughters are Mrs. H. I. Smith and Mrs. M. J. Smith, New Oxford; Mrs. Clara Weirick and Mrs. John Garrety, Wichita, KS; Mrs. Jacob Smith, Mrs. Wm. Roth, McSherrystown, and Misses Mattie, Annie, Daisy and Maggie Hemler, at home. Three brothers, Anthony Burkee, Buffalo, NY, and Alfred and Joseph Burkee, McSherrystown, also survive.
