1850 United States Federal Census reported that Peter W. Clubb age 30, and his wife Phoda age 29 were living in the Sarcoxie Township in Jasper county, Missouri.
Records show that Peter W. Clubb, b.1820 purchased land in Springfield, Greene county, Missouri on the First day of SEPT 1858 for property in Sarcoxie, Jasper county, Missouri. Sarcoxie was the first area of Jasper county to be settled, then named Centerville. Peter at that time was farming.
The children were William M. age 7, Anthone [Anthony] M. age 5, and Nancy J. age 3.
In 1860 the information was given on the U S Census that Peter was now age 40 and Rhoda was 39. They have moved in the 10 span to another farm in Marion Township, Jasper county, Missouri. [Post office: Carthage]. Their family has grown to include more children. They are:
William M. age 17, Anthony M age 14, Hannah C age 9, George age 6, James F. age 3 and Thomas J. age 3 months.
At the outbreak of the Civil War, Peter W. Clubb was attached as a Union private in the UNION MISSOURI VOLUNTEERS 9th Regiment, Missouri State Militia Cavalry. He died during the Civil War on June 11, 1863 in the Post Hospital at Mt. Pleasant, MO. from complications of typhus.
1870 United States Federal Census enumerated on the 10th day of August reveals that Rhoda Clubb, now a widow, as living in Marion Twp., Jasper county, Missouri.
Rhoda gave her age as being 50, born in 1820 in Missouri.
Her children were
Anna C. age 19, George W. age 17, James F. age 14, Thomas J. age 10 and Rhoda R. age 7.
It is presumed that Rhoda passed away between 1870 and 1880 because she is not found on the 1880 Census.
