Son of George Ham & Marian DouglasHerbert Berton Ham is the son of George Albert Ham and Marion Rose Douglas, their fourth-born and youngest child. He was raised in Edmunds County, South Dakota. Herbert "Hub" married Alice Elma Robinson on May 28, 1908, at Bowdle, Edmunds Co., South Dakota. The couple had five known children: Marian, Alan, Horace, Ward, and Betty, who were raised to adulthood with the exception of Horace who had died when he was just a few years old, in 1918. 1910 he was making his living farming in Edmunds Co. 1920 the family lived in Lemmon, South Dakota, where he was occupied as a laborer for a dray-line. Betty was born to the family in Oregon July 1925. 1930 the family was making their home in Lemmon, Perkins Co., South Dakota, where Herbert was employed as nightman at an auto garage. By 1940 the family was residing at Keystone, Pennington Co., South Dakota, where he was employed as a miner. He later worked at the Kellogg Mine, Idaho, and lived in Coeur d'Alene at the time of his death.
