He was born May 29, 1918, in Charleston, the son of George E. and Gertrude Smith McFadden.
On Dec. 24, 1940, he married Frances Council, who survives.
He had lived in Charleston his entire life, and was a member of the First Baptist Church here. He was advertising manager for the Enterprise Courier until his retirement in 1985.
Also surviving are sons, Glennon and William McFadden; a daughter, Aleta Laughlin; a brother, Kermit McFadden; sisters, Kathleen Hutson, Frances Saliba, Nevis Bryan and Phyllis Fox; and four grandchildren.
A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Friday at McMikle Funeral Home here. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
