EMMA MARIE (JENSEN) SVENDGAARD
December 21, 1868 - December 19, 1944

Emma Marie Jensen was a member of the late Soren Jensen family. She was a native of Washington County, Nebraska born on the Soren Jensen Homestead. She was the second of 13 children. She attended March School.

She was wed to Peter Svendgaard June 1, 1887 in Blair by former Judge Alonzo Perkins. Ten children were born. Son Alfred died at age 16 years as a result of an injury after being kicked by a horse. Emma was very musical, played both piano and organ. Peter and Emma farmed on the farm next to the Homestead. She hauled milk products to the Orum store by horse and wagon.

They were engaged in farming for 43 years, then moved to Blair, Nebraska. Neither Emma or Peter had ever been ill in 56 years of marriage, but on that anniversary day they were both in Methodist Hospital in Omaha, where both
had recently underwent operations.

Emma passed away December 19, 1944 age 76 years. Burial in the Blair Cemetery.
