Sena was the eldest child of 10 children born to Peter and Emma Svendgard.
Born and raised on a farm near the Soren Jensen Homestead. Elementary
education received at March School. (March School will celebrate it’s Centennial 1970).
During her early years she was everybody’s “hired girl” especially for her Uncles and Aunts - “Jensens”.
On February 27, 1907, Sena married Anton Andersen - a Danish “hired hand” of the neighborhood. They lived on a farm near the Jensen Homestead where their first child Pearl Eulala was born March 3, 1908. She died December 16, 1908 of croup or diphtheria. They moved to the original Soren Jensen Homestead. Eulala and Edna were born here.
In 1914 they bought 80 acres, later 120 acres from Clarence French Estates, in the March School District where they lived until 1943 when they retired to an Arlington residence. Seven children were reared on the farm and all attended rural
March school for 10 year education. Sena miraculously escaped death three times. As a child she lost two fingers on her left hand in an accident by a horse-drawn sheller. When 16 years she was very ill due to peritonitis from a ruptured appendix. In 1917 she had surgery for an intestinal obstruction. Ethel was born soon after. Sena enjoyed clothing, feeding and education her family.
She bravely adjusted when they moved from the farm to the Arlington residence in 1943. She loved her grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She died February 12, 1965 at the age of 78 years.
Burial at the Kennard Nebraska Cemetery.
