Mrs. King was born March 5, 1927, in Mount Solon and was a daughter of the late Francis Grover Cleveland and Cliffy Cleo Huffer Knott.
She had lived most of her life in Mount Solon. She also lived in Fairfax for 13 years and in Weyers Cave for seven years. She was a member of the Stokesville Community Church.
On Dec. 4, 1946, she married Bernard Monroe King, who died Feb. 20, 1992.
Surviving are four sons, James B. King of Verona, George E. King of Mount Solon, Arnold H. King of Vista, Calif., and Garland C. King of Staunton; five daughters, Ruth A. Wayson and Mary A. Bennett, both of Mount Solon, Susan E. Rexrode of Spring Hill, Lelia Whetzel of Verona and Linda M. Rexrode of Weyers Cave; five brothers, William Webster of Harrisonburg, Kenneth Richard Knott of Staunton and Weldon Eugene, Boyd Earline and Roy Fillmor Knott, all of Mount Solon; three sisters, Ruby Catherine Sheffer and Lola Morrison, both of Mount Solon and Zelda Mae Arviola of Virginia Beach; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Revs. Arthur Mays and Ray Tabor will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stokesville Community Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Solon Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Bridgewater.
