Simpson Dyer Watters, 78, of Oneida, Tennessee passed away May 22, 2005, at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville.

Born in Scott County, August 8, 1926, he was preceded in death by his parents, James and Millie Simpson Watters; his first wife, Shirley Yvonne Chitwood Watters; two brothers, Robert and William Clay Watters; four sisters: Corda, Lottie, Alta, and Bess; brother-in-law, Hestel Burress; mother-in-law, Ruby Moffett; and one son-in-law, Michael Logrande.

He was a member of West Oneida United Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He served his country in World War II, the Korean War, and was a member of American Legion post #136.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Ruth Watters of Oneida; daughters: Terri Logrande of Seymore, Tenn., Renee Byrd and husband, Leon, of Knoxville, Lisa Walker and husband, Scotty, of Illinois; one stepdaughter, Christel Boyatt and husband, Steve, of Oneida; one stepson, Chad Duncan and wife, Sam, of Oneida; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, one brother, Joseph Delynn Watters and wife, Helen, of Alabama; two sisters: June Burress of Oneida, and Mary Jo Mulloy of Kentucky; special sister-in-law, Lucinda (Debbie) Moffett; several aunts and uncles, and many other relatives.
