Soren Jensen, Supervisor, Rites Wed.

Had Died Sunday in a Hospital at Excelsior Springs

Funeral services were held Wednesday for Soren Jensen, well known Washington Co farmer and Co Supervisor who died last Sunday in a hospital at Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was 69 years of age.

He was born May 27, 1889 on a farm near Kennard to the late J.B. Jensen and his wife Anna. He grew to manhood in that vicinity. He was married to Miss Hannah Skov on December 18, 1912, and the couple spent many years on a farm in the Glendale school district southwest of Herman.

In February of 1950, they retired from farming and moved to Blair, building a new home at 606 West Jackson street in northwest Blair. Shortly after moving to Blair he was elected a member of the board of Washington Co Supervisors and he held that office at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Herman Masonic and Order of the Eastern Star lodges.

Two weeks ago Mr. Jensen accompanied his daughter and son-in-law, Howard Kubie, to Kansas City, stopping off in Excelsior Springs to enjoy the mineral baths. He became ill while there and submitted to an operation last Tuesday. His condition continued to be grave and he finally succumbed to his illness.

Mr. Jensen is survived by his wife, Hannah, and by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Kubie (Leola) of Blair and Mrs. Shurley Nelson (Janet), of Herman. There are also two grandsons and two granddaughters.

Two brothers also survive him: Chris E. and William J.B. Jensen of Blair and five sisters, Mrs. Detluf Wulf (Sena), and Miss Hannah Jensen, both of Blair, Mrs. Rex Hart (Nora), Mrs. Harold Soulvester (Esther), and Mrs. Cleo Hall (Stella), all of California.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Congregational church with the Rev. Clare Olney conducting the service. Pallbearers were Washington Co Supervisors with whom Mr. Jensen had served. They were Leslie French, Clarence Simpson, Bruce Cox, Mack Cameron, Howard Taylor and Waldo Kruse. Mrs. Frank Stewart was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Goll sang two duets.

Burial was made in the Blair cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home. The Court House was closed Wednesday afternoon in respect for the deceased Board member.
