Margaret was the oldest child of Robert Mack and Margaret Pollack. She married Hugh Tannahill in 1839 in Quebec at the age of 18. To this union was born twelve children; Margaret, Janet Sharp, Isabel, Ann H., John, Barbara Wylie, Agnes Marshall, Christina Clyde, Robert Mack, Hugh Sharp, James Walter and Jane Patton. She died on March 2 1899 at the age of 78.
