We bought a ticket 1st class for the Rhine trip. Also postcards / photo postcards from the Rhine!
We boarded the steamer " Hansa " until we arrived in Cologne at 4 o'clock in the evening. It was a wonderful trip and just like our whole journey, this trip was accompanied by the most beautiful weather.

But if I only wanted to describe a few incidents, the effort is too great and this book too small. So I must make a brief outline. Both banks of the Rhine were equally picturesque in the highest degree.

The mountains on both sides of the Rhine are steep and stony, and with wine every corner is planted and terraced.

Now another 1 hour train ride and we were received by Inge's son Carl Jacobsen in Dueren and let us bring to the "Friesenhof", where Inge Jacobsen welcomed us friendly. We felt immediately at home with her, like at home.

Inge lives very nicely in her small romantic kingdom, and is happy and proud of her handsome, nice sons, who are faithfully at their mother's disposal. She has a large, cool house with thick, massive walls and a large veranda, where guests can stop and eat all summer long - The house is situated between large trees and shady places invite to rest here. This is done by students, teachers and many people who come here to drink coffee, milk or beer.

We had a wonderful day, which we enjoyed in peace, about old times we chatted ( spoke) and

Philine's daughter Lenchen from Föhr listened. ( Elena Jappen Arfsten, 15 Jahre alt)

She said, I like to listen when such old 3 women talk. Inge called out" What, old women? - We have our hearts in the right place! - Theodor Storm (North German poet from Husum) already said that.
Then we had great laundry, cleaned us from the dust and we even put on our thin blouses because it was so warm. Hope, on Foehr it will also still so warm!
