Everett C. Hunley, 98, died peacefully at his daughters' home in Bridgeville, Del. on April 2, 2013. He was born on Nov. 14, 1914, in Roanoke, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Walter C. Hunley; his wife Claudia; five sisters, Ethel Beahm, Ruth Tutlow, Myrtle Miller, Edna Conaway and Aleine Christopher; and one grandson, Stephen Strassacker.

Everett was a decorated WWII Glider Pilot, worked as a flight instructor for several years. Then employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company, Construction Division as a construction surveyor until his retirement in 1976.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara J. Freitag, husband Robert of Bridgeville, Del., and a son, Walter E. Hunley, wife Misao of Brunswick, Ga.; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, four-great-great grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

There was a private viewing and service in Laurel, Del., on April 4. As per his wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be interned at Brunswick Memorial Park, Brunswick, GA. His final Memorial Service for friends and family will be held at Saint Benedict's Parish in Ridgely, Md., at 11 a.m. on May 8, 2013.
