*ROBERT Burbridge was born in Bath County, Kentucky in January 5, 1779 and died May 23, 1846 at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 18 days. He died in Pike County, Illinois and is buried in Burbridge cemetery. He was married to Jaley Ann Richards who was born January 11, 1784, and died September 11, 1851, at the age of 67 years and 8 months. Both Robert and his wife were natives of Kentucky.
In 1825 they moved to Missouri, and located near Louisiana in Pike County. They remained there until 1842 when in the spring of that year they came to Pike County, Illinois, and moved onto the farm in Hardin township 4 and one half miles north of Nebo and 9 miles south of Pittsfield. They both remained there until death. The Burbridges and Richards came to Kentucky at the same time. The father of Jaley was killed by the Indians while getting his plunder across the Ohio river on a flat boat, on their journey to Kentucky.
The family of Robert Burbridge consisted of 11 children, 8 boys and 3 girls. Their names were as follows, Thomas B., George, Jaley Ann, Absolm, Roland, William, Elizabeth, Polly, John, Harrison, Carolile.
1.)* ABSOLM, the eldest, in company with his younger brother 2.)*ROLAND went to Galena, Illinois when that territory was a great mining country for lead and both fell sick and died there.
3.)*WILLIAM, the next, died in Pike County, Missouri.
4.)*ELIZABETH, 5.)*JOHN and 6.)*HARRISON died in Pike County, Illinois.
7.)*POLLY married Thomas Anson and they lived and died in Pike County, Illinois.
8.)*CAROLILE went to Oregon and died there.
9.)*THOMAS married Mary McNary. Both lived and died in Pike County, Illinois.
10.)*GEORGE married Nancy Benn, both living and dying in Pike County, Illinois.
11.)*JALEY ANN married D. D. Hicks. They too were life long residents of Pike County, Illinois and are buried in the Burbridge Cemetery.

The History for the older generations was written by Thomas B. Burbridge on March 1883. The remainder was written by Robert Burbridge, his son, on November 28, 1937.
