He was born Nov. 11, 1907, in Ackley, son of Fred and Margaret Barger Michaels. He married Marie Cherry Pulver on April 30, 1927, in Grundy Center. Mr. Michaels was employed at John Deere and later operated an auto repair shop in Hudson for 50 years. He was also a former Hudson volunteer firefighter.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ferdinand and George Jr., both of Waterloo; a daughter, Lois Trainor of Hudson; a brother, Howard of Waterloo; and a sister, Catherine Malkovich of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Ferd; a sister, Florence Malkovich [should read Bandfield]; and a grandson.
