Truett Hall Aston was the son of Carl Allen Aston and Sarah Anna Carpenter. He was the eldest of their six children. He had two brothers, John Travis and Bennie Ray, and three sisters, Edith Ione, Wynona and Elsie Lou. Truett married Ruby McCord, and they were parents of two daughters, Valarie Carlene and Ima Jean.

He was married second, to Effie Elizabeth.
