Found in The State 29 July 1995: Services for the Rev. John Edward Taylor Sr., 85, of 265 Calvary Church Road, Swansea, formerly of Greeleyville, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Southside Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park...Memorials may be made to the Migrant Ministry of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The Rev. Taylor, husband of the late Alberta Douglas Taylor, died Friday, July 28, 1995. Born in Greeleyville, he was a son of the late John Beachey and Daisy Gertrude Browder Taylor. He retired from Baptist Home Mission Board of Atlanta and was a former pastor in Greenville-Spartanburg area churches. He was a migrant missionary and director of Migrant Missions and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Martha Knox of Swansea; a son, John Taylor Jr. of Pond Branch; a brother, Jack Taylor of Chapin; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
