Services for Robert "Pat" Carey, 78, Aledo, are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Jinks Family Funeral Services, Aledo, preceded by a luncheon at 11 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, Aledo. Burial is 4 p.m. in Indian Creek Cemetery, Columbus Junction, Iowa.
Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the family or to the church, where he was a member.
Mr. Carey died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1994, at home.
He was born April 20, 1916, in Louisa County, Iowa, the son of Robert Aden and Mamie Rebecca Bliven Carey. He married Muriel King Aug. 20, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.
He moved with his family to Illinois in 1926.
He farmed in the Mercer County area until 1953 and then worked at the former Shael City Brick Yard until 1968.
He loved to cook, especially candy and bread.
Survivors include the widow; daughters, Eydie Carey, Mexico, and Fay Marlene Carey, Lincoln, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Jo and Marlin Gauley, Sherrard; a son, Clifford Carey, Milan; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Morrison, Columbus Junction; and brothers, Rex and Keith Carey, both of Columbus Junction.
