WALTER A. KILMER
Walter A. Kilmer, 69, of Plains Road, New Paltz died Thursday morning at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Kilmer for the past few years had been caretaker of the New Paltz Rural Cemetery. He was born Aug. 19, 1892, in Newburgh, son of the late Irving and Emma Greatsinger Kilmer. He was married July 16, 1911 in Newburgh to the former Frances E. Smith. Mr. Kilmer made his home in Tarrytown for 41 years, employed there as a painter and decorator. He was a former member of the Tarrytown Fire Patrol and a member of the New Paltz Fire Department; Local Union 531, Painter and Paperhangers Union, Junior Order United American Mechanics. For several years he was a lath operator in New Brunswick, N.J. He came to New Paltz following his retirement about four years ago.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Alfrederick of East Hartford, Conn.; three daughters, Mrs. Minnie K. Barrett of New York City; Mrs. Harriet Ahlberg of New Paltz and Mrs. Edith Baker of Port Chester; a sister, Mrs. William Snyder of Newburgh; seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday 3:30 p.m. Pine Funeral Home Inc., New Paltz. Burial was in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery. The Rev. Willett R. Porter, pastor of the New Paltz Methodist Church officiated at the service.
