MACOMB -- James R. Stoneking, 85, of 250 N. Bonham St. died at 5:05 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 1997, at McDonough District Hospital.
He was born May 29, 1912, in Macomb to Willis and Lillian Wells Stoneking. Surviving are two daughters; one nephew whom he raised; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. [Names of survivors omitted]
He worked at Amatex in East Moline for 25 years.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 6 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1921. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Fitch will officiate. There will be no visitation. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
