He was born April 20, 1928 in Cato, Missouri to Thomas Jefferson Blankenship and Effie Lisifit Snider.

In 1989, he married Hazel Pauline Williams.

He is survived by his wife; two children; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; his twin sisters Wanda Clevenger and Norma Rainwater of Aurora, Missouri; and brother Troy Blankenship of Aurora, Missouri.

Roy is preceded in death by his former wife Florence Ames, brothers Cleo and Stanley Blankenship and his parents Thomas and Effie Blankenship.
