Martin Ernest Curtis, son of pioneer parents, Martin O. and Frances Graham Curtis, was born April 3, 1889, at Courtland, Kan. and departed this life on August 12, 1960, at Pomona, Cal., at the age of 71 years, four months and nine days.

He grew to manhood in Kansas and moved to Pomona in 1911, where he lived the balance of his life. he was a veteran of World War I and was a retired foreman of a fruit packing company in Pomona.

He is survived by a sister, Miss Luey Curtis of Topeka; a brother, Will Curtis of Greeley, Colo.; a nephew, the Rev. Charles M. Curtis of Anthony, Kan.; three nieces, Miss Ruth Curtis of Greeley, Mrs. Frances Behnke of Lyons, and Mrs. Ardith Curtis of Council Grove, Kan.; two grand-nephews; and three grand-nieces.

Services were held at the Tibbetts funeral Home in Belleville with the Rev. Charles M. Curtis officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Courtland.
