BURCELL, Joan Elizabeth
Our beloved Joan Elizabeth Burcell, born on June 23, 1932, was called home to glory on October 4, 2011, after a battle with cancer. An avid philanthropist, Joan worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for over 44 years; served the WIND youth center for almost 10 years; contributed to at least 50 charities and provided hospice care for her own mother Josephine for 5 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard 'Dick" Burcell in December 1998. She is survived by her son, William Burcell and her brother, Clem Shmitz. Joan was loved dearly and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Her memorial mass and reception will be held on October 19, 2011, from 11-2pm at St John the Evangelist Church at 5751 Locust Ave in Carmichael, Ca. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to WIND Youth Services.
