Solomon, son of J. Foster Leaverton, was born in the home in Maryland in 1785. He married Lettice Thompson of North Carolina. Both families were members of the Society of Friends. In 1817 they decided to join his family in Ohio. They settled on a farm on Fall Creek in what is now Penn Twp.
