Ronald was a member of the Lee High School Class of 1979 in Huntsville and a member of The Marching Generals Band, playing the Alto Saxophone.

As such, he (along with his brother Rodney) was part of the group that marched in the New Orleans 1976 Mardi Gras Parade and won the Krewe of Mid-City’s “Greatest Bands in Dixie” Award, which would take the Generals to Washington, D.C. to represent Alabama by marching in President Jimmy Carter’s Inaugural Parade on 20 January 1977 and Alabama Governor Fob James’ Inaugural Parade on 15 January 1979.

At Lee, Ronald was also a member of the Art Club, Chess Club, and ROTC. During his sophomore year, he was Secretary of Beta Theta Chi, informally known as BOX.

Ronald Edward Jamar, 52, passed away February 9, 2013 in Rome, Georgia.

He was born February 8, 1961 in Huntsville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Laban Croskey "L.C." Jamar, Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Madgie Strong Jamar; sisters, Jacquelyne J. Flournoy (Cecil), Janice A. Jamar; brother, Laban Rodney Jamar, Sr. (Sharonne); grandmother, Catherine Rooks Strong; uncle, James Edward Jamar; nephews, Cecil Flournoy, Jr. (Nikaela) and Laban Rodney Jamar, Jr.; nieces, Catherine Flournoy, Janette Miller (William), Jeris Jamar, and Jessica Jamar.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Center Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Donald Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Honoring the wishes of the family, Mr. Jamar will not be available for public viewing.
