Stella Merritt was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Merritt, Jr., and Mary Charity Dotson. Stella married Carl F. Benson Oct. 21, 1908, in Bartholomew Co., Indiana, and they had two daughters, Evelyn Lee Benson and Dorothy Mildred Benson.

MRS. BENSON'S FUNERAL HELD
Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Merritt Benson, 49, wife of Carl Benson of Indianapolis, who died in Sunnyside sanitarium at Indianapolis, were held yesterday afternoon at the Hege and Flanigan funeral home. The Rev. T.K. Smith had charge. Burial was made in the Daugherty cemetery south of Walesboro.

The services were simple and there was no music.

There were many flowers and these were in charge of nieces, Mrs. Norval Merritt, Mrs. John Beatty, Mrs. Willard Thomas, Mrs. Leno Thomas, Geraldine Stockover, Inez Swank and Opal Thomas.

The pallbearers were Norval Merritt, Oscar Sweeney, Leno and Willard Thomas, Donald Stockover and Lester Ault, all nephews.
