Mrs. Rhoda V. Pittman, 72, of 217 North Gladstone avenue, died today at the Indiana university hospital at Indianapolis where she had been a patient one week. In failing health for 20 years, Mrs. Pittman had been in serious condition two weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Murille Deckard at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Reed funeral home, where persons may call after 6 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Daugherty cemetery.
Mrs. Pittman was the daughter of Emerson and Minnie Quinn Carter, born April 21, 1899, at Flora. She was married in Brown county April 22, 1916, to Francis M. Pittman, who died in 1951. They had moved to Bartholomew county in 1941.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Frances Mae Mitchner of 217 North Gladstone avenue, Mrs. Leonard Dutro of 1503 Sycamore street, and Mrs. Donald Payne of Hope; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Walter Boyd of Seaton, Ill.; a brother, William Carter of Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. Wardie Mason of Kokomo, Mrs. L.J. Lamme of Peru, Mrs. Neva Bell Burkett of Galveston, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son, Claude Eugene Pulliam, an infant daughter, a grandchild and two sisters and two brothers.
