Clinton Cross
Funeral services for Clinton Cross will be conducted Saturday, June 10, at 10 a.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home in Greenville. Mr. Cross died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Kings' Daughters Hospital in Greenville, of heart failure. He was 75.
Mr. Cross, a guard and electrician, was a native of Humphreys County. He was an Army veteran of World War II; after being discharged he returned to the Delta and was engaged in farming in Bolivar and Sunflower counties. Mr. Cross became a security guard at Greenville Mills in 1955 and retired in 1985. He was a memeber of the VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lerlene Hall, who died in May 1977.
He is survived by his three daughters, Linda(and Richard)Jackson of Greenville, Robbie(and Billy)Fulgham of West Point, Sandra (and Clarence)Edwards of Glen Allan; one son, Billy Gene (and Jo Ellen)Cross of Glen Allan; two sisters, Eva Munn of Sidon and Ann Johnson of Greenville; one brother, Willie "Billy" Pink Cross of Clarksdale; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home of Greenville, which is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
