Dennis L. DeVries, 74, Marion, died at 9:30 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2013 in Marion General Hospital. He was born in Hammond, Indiana to the late Edwin and Sarah (Ooms) DeVries. He married Carroll Steinhilber on December 22, 1962. She survives.
He was a registered tax return preparer at H & R Block, Marion for 13 years and formerly worked at Simmons Mattress in Munster, Budd Company in Gary, Active Products in Marion, United Technologies in Peru and Mail Boxes, Etc. in Marion. Dennis was a United States Army veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marion. He was a passionate person who enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. He enjoyed his breakfast club at McDonald's North.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Carroll DeVries, Marion, IN; daughters, Annette (Paul) Weaver, Warsaw, IN, Brenda (Jeff) Fisher, Dublin, CA; son, Eric (Erica) DeVries, Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren, Samuel (Tarah), Wendy (Landon), Rheann, Crystal, Jeffrey, Ethan; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Brett; sisters, Shirley Quasebarth, Eckerty, IN, Kathy McElroy, Silver Lake, IN.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Bob.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Indiana with Pastor Tom Ream officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Hebron, Indiana.
Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2013 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
