Edward Anderson Christopher, former Waverly business man, died last Saturday at South Haven, Mich., where he had gone on account of ill health, and was brought to Waverly for burial Tuesday afternoon.
Deceased was born in Virden, Ill., August 7, 1864, being the son of James H. and Parentha Christopher, and died at South Haven, Mich., May 7, 1927, at the age of 62 years and 9 months. He was for some time connected with the hardware and furniture firm of Wilcox & Hopkins, and later was a member of the firm of Christopher & Sons, of this city, successors to Wilcox & Hopkins. He later went to the Pacific coast, where he spent several years in San Francisco and Portland. For the past fifteen years he has been residing in Chicago, being a salesman for the American Magnestone Co. He was a member of the B. P. O. Elks and Modern Woodman lodges.
His parents and one brother, F. M. Christopher, preceded him in death.
About two years ago Mr. Christopher began to fail in health, being afflicted with high blood pressure. A few weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Christopher went to South Haven, Mich., to spend the summer. On Saturday, May 1, he was stricken with paralysis which resulted in his death the following Saturday.
Deceased is survived by his wife, Kate Christopher, of Chicago; sister-in-law, Mrs. Belle Christopher, and nephew, E. J. Christopher, of Waverly.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Belle Christopher Tuesday afternoon, May 10, Rev. A. R. Wassell, pastor of the First M. E. church, officiating. Interment was in East cemetery.
